Game 1 was filled with a lot of adrenaline and drama. Jon Anderson got the start for the 'Squatch and looked to have great control of his movement, sitting down the Basshole lineup easily in the first inning. Starting Basshole pitcher, Tim McGeown, looked just as good following suit with Anderson. The 2nd inning the Basshole offense woke up. Mike Thompson stepped up to the plate and crushed a solo home run to start the scoring. Immediately after, Mike Houle got on base and Tim McGeown helped himself out by hitting a 2 run blast. The Bassholes would make it 4-0 the next inning, but the Sasquatch started to show some life. They got the bases loaded and Dave Tammaro looked to tie it with one swing of the bat. He got he pitch he was looking for and roped it towards the left field wall, but towering Thompson was there and did his best Dikembe Mutombo impression by knocking the over the wall ball back into play. The Sasquatch would get a run back, but the bassholes would get it back the next inning making it 5-1. The score would stay that way and Bassholes would take game 1.
The second game was complete opposite of the first. Dave Tammaro took over for Jon Anderson and did not disappoint. He held the Basshole offense scoreless for the entire game. Mike Thompson got the start for the Bassholes and looked stellar pounding the strike zone. The experts thought this game was going to go scoreless into extras, but some errors in the Basshole defense allowed the Sasquatch to score 3 runs. The Sasquatch would hold on a little bit longer to force a game 3.
Game 3 was what dreams are made of. The two top pitchers of each team, going head to head, for a chance to take their team to the dance. The game started off with the Sasquatch taking an early lead off a couple of Basshole errors. Thompson saw flashbacks of game 2, but was able to settle down. The Bassholes tied it up in the 2nd with some perfect small ball play; base hit, sacrifice, base hit RBI. The 'holes would continue to play this style of wiffleball throughout the entire game. By the end of the 4th, the Bassholes led 5-1.
The Sasquatch added another run, but the Bassholes left the field Grenade division champions. They will take on whoever wins the Butter Tongues/Beasts series this Sunday at 2PM for the NEAWL title.
