The Weemen decided to parts ways with former home run King, Dave O'Grady, in order to secure top priority to draft the player they are targeting. O'Grady's numbers took a huge dip in the 2014-W season, but some experts feel the Weemen gave up prematurely on him. O'Grady is a smart base runner and with the pitching speed limit dropping to 55mph, those power numbers may return. The Weemen now hold the #1 overall pick, but also possess 2 of the last 3 picks in the draft.
Burlington Blaze GM, Mike Taft, had this to say about his new teammate. "We are happy to welcome David O'Grady to the Burlington Blaze. We have been a fan of Dave for a long time now and we are looking forward to his impact this season. With his help, we feel we have the foundation to potentially bring this franchise the cup." The new Blaze member had this to say, "I'd like to thank the city of Worcester for being so welcoming. It's unfortunate that we had to part ways so soon, but I believe this move is the best for all parties involved. I look forward to joining the Burlington Blaze franchise."
The Blaze will be returning with Mike Thompson, Mike Taft, Dave O'Grady, and the #2 pick in the draft which may make them the favorites to challenge the mighty Bassholes for the top spot. The blaze were predicted to win the division last year, but failed to make the playoffs. Perhaps this is finally the year the Blaze can get their first post season win.
