Weemen Ace Colin Amidon welcomed back Tribe star Mike King from a week off with a nasty strikeout, looking to set the tone for this battle of the #3 and #4 teams in the Bones division. Unfortunately for Amidon, Ninjas do not frighten easily and after Syzmon Godzina poked a single in the next Tribe AB, King said sayonara to Amidon’s 3-0 pitch, giving the Tribe an early 2-0 lead. Amidon would walk 3 in the inning but escape without further damage on the scoreboard.
King took the hill for his squad and easily dispatched the Weemen before leading off the 2nd with the first of what would be 5 free passes given to the Ninjas by Amidon that inning. Combined with a pair of singles, the Tribe converted these walks into another 4 runs and never looked back. In the 3rd, King walked then drove himself in with a moonshot that landed well into the other field and in the 4th he continued his offensive clinic with his 3rd bomb, a solo shot, picking up a never-before-seen hat trick.
On the other side, the Weemen lumber was cut down to size by King’s throwing stars as he picked up 11 strikeouts and 1-hit the home squad. The lone bright spot for Worcester in this one was seeing beloved but struggling OF Pat Coop Scoops Keating show signs of breaking out of his slump, providing all 4 baserunners for his team on 1H, 3BB. The Weemen went for post-game handshakes wearing their trademark Grumpy Face but the Tribe had already vanished, leaving Amidon talking of potential free-agent additions to bolster his lineup. This may be a very different contest when the squads rematch on July 2nd. Final Score: Tribe 9, Weemen 0.
